General Information

KAREL DS200 Series provide a flexible, reliable, convenient and cost-effective communication platform with rich, flexible range of features and solutions which meet the communication needs as well as the challenges of the corporate world.

KAREL DS200 Series are a state-of-art, modular system with the open system architectures and digital platforms. The DS200 Series interface with Analog, ISDN BRI, ISDN PRI, E&M, PLC, E1-R2, TWT, LB or VoIP Lines on the trunk side and Analog, ISDN, Digital, Wireless or IP Stations on the extension side.

The electronic and mechanical architectures of the DS200 Series are designed using the facilities of the latest technology to support a flexible communication platform.

A distributed processing structure is adapted, instead of a single processor to control all the functionality. High grade of reliability is assured by the on-line redundant processor which is ready to back-up the main processor and by the power network. The power network is designed to provide redundancy support to ensure persistant operation in case of any failure in the power system caused by external effects.

Flexibility

The modular architecture and the rich features of DS200 Series allow for flexibility in creating and modifying system configurations in accordance with the specific needs of a wide range of customers such as hotels, hospitals, manufacturing plants, commercial enterprises and public offices.

The DS200 Series comes in three different models. The DS200 model has capacity of 1344 TDM Ports + 750 IP Ports. The DS200S and DS200M, with maximum capacities of 244 TDM + 750 IP Ports and 144 TDM + 750 IP Ports respectively, are cost effective alternatives for organizations that need the rich features but not high capacities offered by DS200 Series.

In addition to this wide range of interfaces used for the network connections, a large set of extension services such as metering pulse generation, automated line check, Caller ID display and Caller ID generation are provided in this configuration.

The compact and flexible structure of the DS200 model allows for cabinet or wall mounting applications. The cabinets of the DS200 are designed for the most efficient installation and maintenance processes. The mechanical structure for the construction of the Main Distribution Frame is situated at the back;while space is reserved for the batteries at the bottom. The back and side doors may be opened for easy installation and servicing, just as the in-cabinet illumination is implemented for the same purpose. Latchable wheels allow facile displacement of the system whenever necessary. Finally, the glass front door allows easy monitoring of the system status.

Networking

One of the most powerful properties of the DS200 Series is networking. Any number of DS200 Series systems can form a telephone system network and act as a single, uniform system. This can be done by connecting to each other via star, chain or any combination of the both, thanks to the intercorporated QSIG support. Within such a network, uniform or non-uniform numbering plans can be used so that an extension of any individual PABX system can directly call the other party that is connected to another system in the network.

Widely and frequently used PABX facilities such as calling line identification, alternative routing, routing authorizations, routing restrictions, least cost routing, call forwarding and call transfer are supported within the entire network.

In addition to the software flexibility in networking applications, DS200 Series systems offer a wide range of hardware interfaces such as Analog, E&M, TWT, Digital ISDN BRI, ISDN PRI, R2 and VoIP Interfaces, which can be used together and in any combination within a single DS200 Series system.

IP Telephony

IP Telephony provides a way to extend communication to employees in their workspaces, whether they are in main campus locations, at branch offices, working remotely or mobile.

DS200 supports SIP signalling protocol for a wide range of devices including :

  • Standard SIP Phones
  • WiFi SIP Phones
  • Proprietary SIP Phones
  • IP Dect Phones
  • SIP Enabled IP Trunks
  • Other SIP Devices using RFC.3261, RFC.3264, RFC.3310, RFC.2327 and RFC.4028.

Peer-to-peer communication-

DS200 uses less system resources in the calls between IP Extensions. This is now possible through P2P (Peer-to-peer) Communication between IP Ports.

VoIP Trunk Applications-

KAREL DS200 Series systems offer a cost-effective yet efficient solution to link enterprises with distant offices or branches.

Especially for the enterprises which have wide area networks with leased line or frame relay connections, DS200 Series Exchanges are the superb solutions for fulfilling your communication needs, without disturbing the data transmission over the existing network, without the necessity of any other interfaces causing additional costs.

DS200 Series IP Enabled Exchanges puts an end to the ncessity to use any other router interfaces such as FXO, FXS, ISDN BRI, ISDN PRI and E&M as well as the capacity limits that are due to these interfaces.

Supported Prorocols-

DS200 supports H.323 and SIP Protocols at trunk (line) interface whereas SIP is the protocol that is supported at the extension interface.

Supported Codecs-

You will have many codecs supported with DS200. If you have MGWI in your system, then you will have support for G.711, G.729 and G.729AB.If you have MGWII installed in your DS200, than you will have G.711, G.729, G.729AB, iLBC, T.38 and G.723.

Encryption-

DS200 respects your security and provides secure conversation methods through sRTP (Secure Real-Time Transfer Protocol) and SIPs (SIPSecure) along with TLS (Transport Layer Security).

DTMF Transmission-

DS200 supports both In-Band (G.711 & DTMF Relay) and Out-of-Band (SIP INFO & RFC.2833) methods for DTMF transmission.

SIP Network Elements-

The new CPUIV provides you to have benefits of DHCP feature. If you enable connection to DHCP server, you do not need to assign IP adress manually to the CPU card.

DNS feature is to be used in the new CPU of DS200. Different DNS adresses can be defined for the ethernet ports on the new CPU.

Now the new CPU of DS200 comes with an Integrated Firewall that protects the system from malicious threats. By this way, system does not allow access of unauthorized elements.

DS200 offers STUN support for NAT Traversal. With the help of STUN server residing at the public side of the NAT, the PABX connects its users to unknown public network ans also lets them receive calls from public network. NAT Traversal feature to be enabled to connect to the WAN via a router.

SIP Algorithms for Voice Quality-

Now DS200 is equipped with Dynamic Jitter Buffer (DJB) and Package Loss Concealment (PLC). DS200 supports Advanced Echo Canceller as well and thus echo is not a problem anymore for your system.

With the help of Voice Activity Detection (VAD), silent periods are not sent to the network, thus bandwith is protected. This feature can be supported by the codec G.729A and must be used at both sides of the connection.

Automatic Gain Control (AGC) checks the emitted voice signal and raises or lowers the volume of the signal if it is respectively weak or strong.

DS200 offers you ToS and DiffServ as QoS abilities. By the use of these abilities, DS200 can record & monitor QoS parameters and use QoS data for finding alternative routes.

Oversubscription might cause declines in Bandwith thereby the decline in voice quality. By the help of Call Admission Control, DS200 does not allow subscription above the defined limit.

The new CPU provides Session Timer to keep an effective call operation. Session time is a method to check the continuity of the calls.
